Generating our own source revenue as a county government is essential to achieving our development goals.
Unfortunately, this morning drivers and stakeholders in the transportation industry at Sabaki bridge halted their operations due to the recent directives issued on cess collection.
I met with drivers, business owners, and other stakeholders in the transport industry to listen to their feedback and concerns regarding the cess collection processes.
As a result, I have suspended the directive limiting cess collection to between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to transporters, travelers, and businesses affected today. Therefore, no cess will be charged at Sabaki Bridge today and tomorrow. Collection will resume on Monday morning.
We are committed to ongoing engagement with all stakeholders to achieve compliance and ensure a business-friendly environment.
Moving forward, we will continue to adopt mechanisms to boost our revenue collection, including leveraging technology and 24-hour operations.
