As the chairman of Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP), I, along with other Coastal Governors, met with H.E Amb. Fredrick Matwang’a, Kenyan Ambassador to Italy, to discuss the Go Blue projects funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in our region. We are seeking more funds for these successful projects which promote the blue economy agenda and economic growth.
The Italian Government has already committed 1 billion dollars to the agricultural sector, and we are working on a plan as JKP to benefit from these funds. The projects in Kilifi have shown positive results in fishing and agriculture.
We also discussed the expansion of Malindi International Airport, a key issue for investors and the business community. The Italian Government has pledged to partner with Kenya to upgrade the airport, benefiting the tourism sector.
Unity is important for us as we focus on economic growth, investment opportunities, and tourism. Our delegation includes Senator Stewart Madzayo, Kilifi County, CECM Dr. Patterson Chula of Kilifi County, Emmanuel Nzai, CEO, JKP and representatives from other coastal counties.
