Earlier today, I had the honor of representing Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro at a fundraising event held at Galana Teacher’s Training College in Magarini Sub-county. The event was attended by County Government officials, Members of County Assembly, Provincial Administration, and the teaching fraternity, all under the esteemed leadership of Principal Madam Janet Mwadiga.
Galana Teacher’s Training College is a public institution that was established by the community in 2013 and is duly registered by the Ministry of Education. The college offers programs such as primary teacher education certificate (P1), Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), and diploma courses beginning in July 2016.
Following a recent visit to my office by Madam Janet Mwadiga and her delegation, we engaged in discussions regarding potential collaborations between the college and the County Government. Specifically, we explored ways in which the County Government could support the college in infrastructural development, focusing on the construction of modern hostels, a multi-purpose hall, additional classrooms, and toilets. These developments are crucial in anticipation of an intake of 300 students in September 2024.
Today, I am pleased to announce that the Government has fulfilled its promise to support the college in alignment with our agenda of enhancing educational institutions in Kilifi to provide high-quality services to the youth. I express my heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed partners, including the Bohora Community, Safaricom Foundation, Equity, and Family Bank, for their generous support in making this vision a reality.
