The International Widows Day aims to promote action among governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector in order to advocate for the full rights and recognition of over 258 million widows worldwide.
The main objective of this day is to leverage resources and create policy guidelines that empower widows and their families, providing them with educational and training opportunities, appropriate employment and fair compensation, healthcare, and environments free from violence and abuse.
It is imperative that we remain dedicated to the socioeconomic empowerment of widows through impactful development initiatives and work towards eliminating societal stigmas that result in exclusion, discrimination, and harmful behaviors.
