Today, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Meg Whitman, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Susan Nakhumicha, and other esteemed guests, we have officially inaugurated Africa’s largest state-of-the-art rapid test kit (RTD) diagnostic manufacturing facility at Revital Healthcare in Kikambala, Kilifi South.
With co-funding support from USAID, the Revital EPZ has embarked on a pioneering initiative to produce over 240 million RDTs. This groundbreaking effort will lead the way in manufacturing essential diagnostic products such as HIV, malaria, hepatitis B/C, and syphilis tests, among others.
This establishment will not only help cultivate a skilled workforce but also serve as a focal point for medical innovation in Africa. Furthermore, it will generate substantial employment opportunities for the residents of Kilifi. As a county, we acknowledge and value the positive impact that our partnership with the US government has had, particularly in the realm of healthcare.
