Today, we received two parcels of land at the Veterinary and Social Development Services for the construction of our county headquarters. Additionally, movable assets worth Ksh 51.6 million, totaling 259, were handed over after being identified, inspected, and valued by the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) and NTSA.
This action stems from a commitment made by the President at the 9th National and County Coordinating Summit in February 2023 to facilitate the transfer of assets to defunct local authorities and those linked to devolved functions. The process was outlined in Gazette Notice No. 3839 of March 24, 2023, detailing the responsibilities of various institutions.
Kilifi County has successfully completed this exercise, becoming the first county to take ownership of the inherited assets. We acknowledge the support of the national government and the IGRTC in ensuring that counties have the necessary resources to carry out their mandated responsibilities under the Kenyan constitution.
