Earlier today, I had the honor of participating in the launch of the mass distribution of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) at Vipingo grounds in Kilifi South Sub-county. The event was attended by Madam Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health, National and County officials, Community Health Promoters (CHPs), and residents of Vipingo.
Recent data from the world malaria report showed an increase in malaria cases and deaths in 2022 compared to 2021, with approximately 1.5 million children at high risk. The distribution of over 1 Million treated nets across the county, under the theme “Say NO to Malaria, NETI ndio jibu,” is a crucial step in malaria control and elimination efforts, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Our Community Health Promoters (CHPs) play a vital role as ambassadors in our collective fight against malaria, promoting access to prevention and treatment for those most at risk and ultimately saving lives.
