Road Safety Campaign Launch

Company
Today, Bandari Maritime Academy CEO Dr. Eric Katana, in collaboration with the Kilifi County Government under the office of Deputy Governor Florence Chibule, launched a Road Safety Sensitization Campaign targeting bodaboda riders and other road users in Kilifi County. This initiative underscores the commitment of both institutions to promoting safety and skill development within the community.
During the launch, Bandari Maritime Academy’s Acting Deputy Director of Maritime Transport and Operations Training, Enock Okemwa, emphasized the importance of road safety and the acquisition of advanced skills in logistics and maritime transport. He highlighted how these efforts align with the academy’s broader mission to enhance transportation safety and efficiency in the region.
As part of the campaign, Dr. Katana led the distribution of helmets and reflector jackets to over 50 bodaboda riders in Kilifi County. This gesture aims to improve the safety of riders on the road and reduce the risk of accidents. The campaign also included educational sessions on road safety best practices and the benefits of using protective gear.
This collaboration between Bandari Maritime Academy and the Kilifi County Government reflects a shared vision of fostering a safer and more skilled transport sector. By addressing the immediate safety needs of bodaboda riders and other road users, the campaign seeks to create a culture of safety and responsibility on the roads of Kilifi County.
Dr. Katana and Deputy Governor Chibule expressed their commitment to continuing such collaborative efforts, recognizing that enhanced safety measures and skills development are crucial for the sustainable growth of the transport and maritime sectors. They look forward to expanding this campaign and implementing further initiatives that will benefit the community and support regional development. Kilifi County CECM for Roads Catherine Kenga was present.
