Suicide Prevention Walk

Company
The Kilifi Department of Health, in partnership with various stakeholders in mental health, successfully coordinated an awareness walk in observance of Suicide Prevention Month.
This event united community members, healthcare professionals, and mental health advocates in a show of solidarity and support for mental health awareness. The primary objective of the walk was to raise awareness about the complexities of suicide and the pressing need for preventive measures in Kilifi County.
Following the walk at Kilifi Bridge, a brief ceremony took place where distinguished speakers addressed the participants. Mental health professionals shared valuable resources, such as hotlines and counseling services available within the county, while emphasizing the importance of seeking help for oneself or others in crisis. Attendees were encouraged to continue engaging in dialogues about mental health within their respective communities, schools, and workplaces.
The event concluded with a moment of silence to pay tribute to those lost to suicide, culminating in a candlelit vigil at Kilifi Bridge. This vigil was a poignant gesture of remembrance for the departed and a symbol of hope, underscoring the importance of supporting individuals grappling with mental health challenges.
The Department of Health in Kilifi remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing discussions on mental health.
We invite individuals in need of assistance to visit our mental health facilities throughout the county, including Malindi Sub-County Hospital, Kilifi County Referral Hospital, Gongoni Health Centre, and Mariakani Sub-County Hospital, all of which provide fundamental mental healthcare services.
